Welcome to Pet Directory Services Dog Groomers page.

Before being listed on the directory, all dog groomers are thoroughly vetted to ensure they possess valid insurance and recognised dog grooming qualifications. Please note, we do not accept online grooming qualifications, such as those from the Centre of Excellence and other non practical online courses, as they do not meet our standards for practical assessment. To be considered a qualified groomer, an individual must have completed a credible qualification that includes hands-on practical assessments. The only exception to this rule applies to groomers who were working in the industry prior to the introduction of formal qualifications.

Key routes to becoming a professional groomer involve completing college courses—such as Level 2 or Level 3 City & Guilds certifications—undertaking apprenticeships, or enrolling in reputable private training programmes. Essential skills required for the role include patience, effective handling techniques, and the confidence to manage a variety of dog breeds, ensuring both the safety and comfort of the animals in their care.
