Once again it is the time of year to issue the annual warning about windfall apples being eaten by dogs. There is a potential danger of dogs eating windfall apples and being poisoned by the cyanide that is contained in the pips.
Each year instances of dogs being poisoned by this means are reported by vets throughout the country.
Signs that this poisoning has happened would be extreme vomiting and lethargy.
Whilst the windfall season is fairly short, nevertheless it is worth bearing in mind. Try to keep dogs away from windfall apples.
