About us
Rebecca set up her business when she moved down to Somerset in May 2022. She previously was working at Mars Petcare where she trained dogs and cats using positive training methods only, she also here built up her experience in training people to train animals.
Rebecca has been working with dogs and cats for over 12 years and has always had pets. She currently has 1 dog and 3 cats and enjoys training all 4 of them.
Mischief Managed Pet Training & Walking provides the South West with dog and cat training - 1:1 sessions, group training sessions, Hoopers, virtual training and training support walks. Along with home visits for dogs and cats and also walking services for dogs either solo walks or group walks and coming soon adventure walks! Recently Rebecca has started offering wedding chaperoning services where she will be your dogs 'plus one' to your wedding and can even train your dog to perform certain tasks during your wedding such as being the ring bearer!
Training: 1:1 sessions
These sessions can be done at the Mischief Managed location in Thurloxton or can be done at your home, depending on the reason. We can also offer over the phone consultations, which may be more useful for our feline friends.
1:1 sessions are useful for dogs who would not cope in a group class setting.
The most common concerns we see in 1:1’s for dogs are barking on the lead, pulling on the lead, lack of recall and more.
During the 1:1’s we can teach you the tools you need so you know what to do in these situations and practice the basic skills to teach your dog, we can then progress to going on a walk together to practice our skills
Cat Training
For cat 1:1’s the most common concerns we see are urinating outside the litter tray, aggression and/or fear.
We use only positive force free methods to help our pets get things right.
Group training sessions
In group sessions there are no more than 6 dogs per session, each dog is given an appropriate amount of space so they can work with minimal distraction making it easier for dog and owner.
These are split into puppy, beginner, intermediate and advanced classes.
In these sessions we work on basic obedience, loose lead walking, recall, socialisation and fun tricks.
Group sessions are great to help dogs work under distraction and to be around other dogs and people.
We also offer tailored group workshops on more common issues such as lead walking and recall, these are a longer session where we really knuckle down on these specific issues.
If you aren’t sure a group class would be suitable for your dog we can assess your dog in a 1:1 setting prior to signing up to a group course.
Training support walks
A new service for people whose dog or puppy needs more intense training support or for people who don’t have the time or resources to attend training classes in person.
Training support walks are 6 walks over a 2 week period for your dog. You as an owner attend the first walk and the last walk and I take your dog for 4 walks in between in that 2 week period. You don’t need to be present for this so I can do it whilst you are out to save you time. During these walks I focus on an area you want me to, whether that be fearful behaviour on lead such as reactivity towards dogs or people, over excitement and jumping up at people or pulling towards people or introducing your puppy to novelty, just to name a few examples.
In the first session with yourself we look at the behaviour we want to work on and then in the last session I show you our progress and give you tips on how you can proceed with your dog’s training.
Virtual training classes
Virtual training classes are where you are part of a supportive group environment online where I send you videos of exercises to teach your dogs and then you can upload your progress videos onto the group or to me personally and we can talk about it!
There are specific topics for the virtual training classes, these are recall, loose lead walking and trick training.
Walking:
We offer 30 minute or 60 minute walks for either an individual dog or a group of dogs from the same household.
We walk in your local area where your dog is familiar with.
Your dog is kept on lead until Rebecca is well acquainted with the dog and knows the dog has a solid recall, along with written permission from the owner to allow the dog off lead. Until then we use longlines to allow your dog freedom under safe conditions.
Your house keys are securely kept.
Adventure Walks (coming soon!)
These are where we take a group of 4 dogs on a 3 hour adventure up in the Quantocks or to the beach to have the best time exploring!
Home Visits:
During these visits we will feed your pet, play with them, and give them fuss if they so wish.
Your house keys are securely kept.
Wedding Chaperoning:
New service! As part of Wedding Pawfection, Mischief Managed offers wedding chaperoning services.
What does this look like?
Basically I am your dog’s plus one if you want them to be there on an important day in your life! I can look after your dog during the service and for photo’s.
Or
I can offer training prior to your wedding to train your dog to do a specific task during your wedding, such as being your ring bearer, posing for photos etc.
Or
You can’t have your dog at your wedding but you need someone to look after them for the day. I can feed them and walk them morning and evening whilst you are out so you don’t have to worry.
I am fully insured and keep your house keys securely.
Hoopers:
Hoopers is the new, up and coming dog sport which is suitable for all breeds, ages and sizes of dogs.
Any dog is suitable providing they can work off lead around distraction, have good recall and are over 6 months of age.
Hoopers is a flat dog sport where the dog runs through a course of hoops, tunnels, chutes and around barrels.
It is great fun for dog and owner and helps build a strong bond between owner and dog!
You can also work towards your Good Hoopers Award Scheme.
Hoopers is in a group training environment with no more than 6 dog’s per class, or can be 1:1 in special circumstances if your dog would not cope with a group training environment but you’d still like to do hoopers.

My dog & I love going to Rebecca's Hoopers classes. We get to spend quality time together, playing a fun, low-impact game, building focus and engagement in an environment with distractions. It really helps improve valuable life skills for our dogs! Rebecca gives personalised feedback in a relaxed way too. Highly recommend 😁. Zoe, Richer Dogs - June 2023
I started attending training with Rebecca with my then 5 month old poodle who was very vocal and reactive around other dogs. Her beginners class was great, no session was so long that my dog got bored and the classes were small enough that Rebecca could give dedicated time to each dog. We have since been attending the Socialisation walks that Rebecca offers and these have been amazing! Rebecca doesn't over complicate the session, keeps it nice and simple and we have seen such a change in Bertie since attending them. It has given us the confidence to take Bertie to more public spaces knowing we have the tools to calm him when needed. Rebecca gets to know each dog and observes you with your dog even when you don't realise it's happening which enables her to provide personalised feedback that proves invaluable. I honestly wouldn't go to any other trainer after working with Rebecca. Could not recommend more! Rebecca Pomeroy - June 2023
