About us
Hi I'm Lily Founder and Behaviourist of Suppawt. My journey first started when studying a degree in Animal Behaviour. Alongside my studies I shadowed and began to teach at a local dog training club, learning loads of valuable skills and insight. Following my achievement of a BSc Hons, I began working at the National Animal Welfare Trust, as the Dog Trainer and Behaviour Coordinator. This was an amazing role which taught me so much about not only rescue dogs but working effectively with people. From here I began this company, specialising in the reactive and rescue dogs that other trainers didn't seem to be able to/want to help. To ensure my knowledge level I joined and was accessed by multiple organisations.
Suppawt is a dog behaviour service, specialising in training and behaviour modification of rescue and reactive dogs. At Suppawt we understand the importance of building a fun, communicative and trusting relationship with your dog. We celebrate the small successes and embrace that dogs behave in ways that benefit them. Using positive reinforcement allows our dogs to learn which behaviours gain rewards and increases the frequency of these appropriate behaviours.
We promise not to scare or hurt your dog in the name of training. We will provide you with the most up to date and scientifically proven ways of training for your dog. There is no magic wand, but with practice and consistency we can help you change your dogs behaviour for the better.
Suppawt offers a range of different classes 1-2-1 sessions and supervised sessions.
Life skills classes - Perfect for rescue dogs and beginners, but caters for all canines. We help you build focus, trust, and confidence with your dog and learn to effectively communicate in a safe and encouraging environment. Throughout these classes, we’ll help you and your dog work through the syllabus to gain awards, each one putting you another step closer to a well-founded family dog.
Puppy classes - Congratulations on the new addition to your family! Seeking out guidance as early on as possible is crucial when adopting a new puppy - every experience and education you provide your puppy will shape their future selves. These classes focus on socialisation, learning to relate appropriately to people and animals. We ensure your puppy will have as many pleasant encounters as possible and become used to a wide range of events, environments and situations. Classes offer socialisation through exposure to other dogs and learning to work around them whilst focusing on you. There will only be puppy play if the puppies are suitably matched.
Training for parkour - This course prepares you for assessment by Dog Parkour™. It combines elements of human parkour and dog agility to create an accessible activity for dogs and humans alike. Your dog will learn to jump, climb, balance on, crawl under, and go around different obstacles in their everyday world. Parkour can be done anywhere and is limited only by one’s imagination. Dog Parkour helps with confidence and overcoming fears, and it is a low impact but challenging activity for any canine athlete.
One-to-one packages - We begin with an initial session, concentrating on gathering sufficient information to aid behaviour modification, before suggesting a bespoke, tailored training plan for you and your dog - we’ll equip you with the skills and tools to implement your training plan, as long as you’re willing to put the work in!
Emergency assessments - If you need urgent support, we’re here for you. These sessions can be made available at short notice in cases which pose a risk to you and your dog. Fill in our contact form and a member of our team will get back to you as soon as possible.
Supervised walks - An on lead group walk with other understanding people working on similar issues, hand matched by our team and playing to each individual dog’s strengths. In particular, we’ll focus on excitement, reactivity, focus, and confidence building.
Your team member will split time between each attendee individually to ensure that every dog gets individual attention whilst enjoying and practising within a group experience.
Socials - Come along and enjoy controlled socialisation in a fully enclosed field with like-minded dog owners. This is suitable for sociable dogs only, although nervous dogs or those with poor social skills may attend. These experiences are run and monitored by a fully qualified trainer. The trainer will talk you through what's happening and assess each dog's needs and behaviour, to ensure the dynamic of the group works. The aim of these sessions is for each dog to go away with a positive socialisation experience - we love happy dogs!
